This policy explains what personal information Reelforge ("we", "us") collects when you use reelforgemedia.com or our video editing service, why we collect it, and your rights. We keep it short and in plain English.

Who we are

Reelforge is a managed short-form video editing service. For anything about your data, contact us at hello@reelforgemedia.com.

What we collect

• Enquiry details: when you fill in a form, we collect your name, email address, your podcast, channel or business name, links to your content, and anything you write in your message.
• Your content: footage, audio and other material you send us to edit, plus the edited videos we produce for you.
• Payment information: payments are handled by Square. We never see or store your full card details.
• Technical information: your IP address and browser type when you submit a form, used only to prevent spam and abuse.

Why we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and make your free sample. This is in our legitimate interest, and it's a step you asked us to take before any contract.
• To provide the editing service you've bought (performance of a contract).
• To keep business and tax records (legal obligation).
• To protect our website from spam and misuse (legitimate interest).

We don't sell your data, and we won't add you to a mailing list without asking.

Who we share it with

• Our editors: we work with trusted freelance video editors, some of whom are based outside the UK. They only receive what they need to edit your videos, and only use it for that purpose. Where data leaves the UK, we put appropriate safeguards in place as required by UK data protection law.
• Service providers: our website hosting, email provider (IONOS) and payment provider (Square), which process data on our behalf.
• Google Fonts: our pages load fonts from Google, which means your browser connects to Google's servers.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that don't lead to work: deleted within 12 months.
• Your footage and edited videos: deleted within 90 days of the end of our work together, unless you ask us to keep them longer.
• Records needed for tax and accounting: kept for 6 years, as required by law.

Cookies

We only use cookies that are strictly necessary for the website to work, such as keeping forms secure. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. Just email hello@reelforgemedia.com and we'll respond within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
